Here is the latest addition to the Waterloo project - a centre company of the Coldstream Guards. I am painting two companies for the project. All figures are plastic by Perry Miniatures

Light Company 3rd/1st Guards

I thought I better get back into the swing of painting Brits for the Waterloo project and so I decided to finish my light company of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Foot Guards.

Next up for the Waterloo project are 48 figures to represent 2 centre companies of the Coldstream Guards

Here is the latest addition to my Napoleonic collection. The figures are Perry Plastic Austrians. The flag was the flag privided on the information sheet by Perry Miniatures.

Bicorn Miniatures - Cased Colours and Cased French Eagles

I just thought I'd do a quick review on these, as there had been a discussion on the TMP forum about these particular items.

I ordered one pack of "S3 Cased Colours with flag tops and cords" and another pack of "S4 Cased French Eagles" - each pack contains 4 wire flagpoles and 4 metal casts of either cased colours with tops or cased eagles.

I did expect a single cast (with the pole) but looking back on it I think my expectations were unrealistic.

The casts are very good, and although marketed for 25mm, they work fine for 28mm.
 

My only criticism is that the poles are very long, and I'm not sure if there's an expectation that you'd have the tools to drill a hole inside the colour to accommodate the pole (there is a small guide hole of a few mm)?
 

Either way, I was very pleased with the finished item and it will save you from buying hundreds of different flags.
 

Although of course, some people love flags!
 

9/10 - exactly what you expect - would have been a ten but let down by the fiddlyness (new word?) of attaching the colours to the pole

Italian Infantry

As you know, I had a lot of Warlord Games French infantry, and I wanted to paint them as something different.

I also wanted to practice painting some white, so I went for Italian Infantry as seen here.

White takes ages to paint, and I genuinely feel sorry for anyone with a large Austrian army!

Battle of Paris 1814

A few photos from my wargame groups last wargame - The Battle of Paris in 1814.

A closely fought game, which resulted in an Allied tactical victory - mainly due to attrition and casualties in the French ranks

By the close of play, all of the major terrain objectives were still under French Control.

On the right, an Austrian attack had been repulsed by the Young Guard and French regulars.

In the centre, the Old Guard had fought well against a Russian, Austrian and Prussian onslaught, whilst the Red Lancers had almost single handedly routed the allied cavalry

Out on the French left, the battalions of National Guard and Marie Louises fought valiantly against experienced Russian infantry and Cossacks!
